Ruby – 2 year old female Greyhound

Ruby is a 2 year old female Greyhound with a lovely, soft, black coat. Dear Ruby’s life is a sad story. She was originally bought as a racer but was found to be too nervous for the track. Her owner then kept her in a shed with another greyhound and provided minimal care with no socialisation or affection. As a result this already-nervous girl was a complete wreck when she was finally handed in to Kerry Greyhounds. She was immediately placed in a foster home, as kennel life was far too terrifying for her, and here she slowly started to learn what affection was.

It is now 6 months later, and Ruby is a very different girl. She is still in this foster home, where she happily coexists with small children and other dogs. She has bonded well with her female fosterer, but is however still very wary of men. This will improve once she gets more one-on-one time with men. Ruby will need to go to a home with a strong female presence to help her at the start. They will need to be patient and understanding of her past to help her continue to gain confidence and realise the outside world isnt all that scary after all.

We feel that Ruby is a beautiful, happy girl now and is ready for the next step in her life. She would make a very rewarding member of an understanding family, where she will continue to blossom and enjoy life.

Ruby is currently in her foster home in Northern Ireland, and can be transported to the UK if a suitable home offer comes up. This would be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. She is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated and a homecheck will be required before she goes to her new home.
