Rusty is just 4 years old and an indeterminate Cross-Breed. In America she would be known as a ‘Low Rider’ which is a wonderful description. She originally came from Portugal and was homed with another dog who was meant to be her best friend. However the two never really got on, not fighting just that the other dog intimidated Rusty, and refused her permission to interact with her owner. Eventually it was decided as decided they would be best apart, and she came to us.
She is a delightful girl. Clean indoors, not destructive, and a great traveler. She is fine with other dogs, though clearly has trust issues with dogs AND people so holds herself back. She would be best homes as an only dog or with a very steady older male to show her the ropes. An active retired individual or couple, with a gentle disposition, calm lifestyle in a quiet rural location would be perfect for this beautiful girl. She is very affectionate and companionable when she trusts you. No children as i believe their behaviour would be stressful to her. Her new family will need to be prepared to take time to bond and build trust and confidence and be patient with things like grooming, which she sometimes finds worrying.
Rusty has Queen Ann front legs. These are a common in long low dogs. They have been xrayed and do not need any attention.
