Ryan is a black Labrador of around 5 years old. I cannot even begin to tell you how proud I am of this handsome boy, he has come such a long way and I don’t mean Geographically! When he arrived several months ago he wouldn’t let anyone anywhere near him. When I did get to touch him he would cower and flinch and would get hold of my hand in his mouth but never bite. He was completely broken. Ryan is fostered in Gt Yarmouth (FR001). For months there was no improvement, no change at all and I began to resign myself to the fact that all we could offer him would be a life with Safe rescue, always cowering in the shadows.
I guess in all that time when I thought nothing was changeing he was taking it all in and about a month ago he at last started to change. The walks that I’d taken him on where he’d grudgingly trudged along at the back with his tail between his legs suddenly he had became a bit more interesting. He’d stop to sniff things look around him and walked beside me rather than behind me. He began to show emotio wagging his tail when he I got up in the morning or came home. Pestering me for his turn to be fed at meal times and even sitting by the door staring at me asking for a walk. Then a few days ago we were out walking in the fields and Flo charged at him .and he played and he ran with his tail wagging! Double edged sword really because I’ve kind of got used to having him around and now he needs to move on to further this advancement towards “normal”.
So here’s what we are looking for. Very genuine dog lover that can look into this handsome face and just “get him”. He still doesn’t love a fuss but he lets me groom him and he follows me around sometimes when I put a hand out to him he will even nudge my fingers before he backs away. He is not done or finished he is not who he is going to become. He’s an extremely brave dog that is been through something at the hands of humans that I never want to know details about.
If you are interested in offering Ryan a home and can understand that he is a work in progress. If you get it that when you come to meet him he’s not going to run up to you with a wagging tail. If you really want to rescue a dog thats damaged then please call.
If you are interested please call or message us.
