Ryan is a 18 month old male Collie Cross, been in our care nearly two months now living in Birmingham with one of our experienced foster homes with 4 other dogs and two cats. This lovely boy was found as a puppy in Spain and unfortunately like a lot of dogs did not find a forever home as a baby – a sweet natured dog he was a favorite with many of the volunteers and one of the dogs we choose to help after meeting him. You could tell what a lovely temperament he had but was just very nervous in new situations as he had not seen too much of the outside world.
Since being in Aunty Sherlies care he has come on leaps and bounds – he has bonded very closely with her and where ever she is he is close by – although we must point out when left he is fine as Sherlie has a camera that can film the dogs when left and he is not bothered at all. Out and about he is now off the lead, loves he walks, he tends to drift off on a walk enjoys the sniffing and generally being nosy and comes back in his own good time, he never runs off. Meeting new dogs and people out he can be wary and a bit nervous, he is getting used to traffic but still a bit wary.
A very affectionate dog he has a big heart and will bond closely with his owner – we think he would be fine as an only dog as its people who he really loves. He likes to play with the other dogs if they will play with him but also likes his own space when sleeping probably from his kennel days as they lived in a big group. He loves the cats and gets on great with them with no problems one of them only being a little baby. He is also house trained.
He is going to suit a rural home rather than a busy town – probably not a first time dog owner dog as he still needs time to build his confidence and he would not be good in a busy young family home – someone who wants a loving companion Brian is your man – We think Ryan could live quite happily as an only dog. As a rescue we like to give the long term dogs a chance of a home, dogs like Ryan would probably spend their life in kennels if it was not for our wonderful foster homes and by giving this lovely boy a home you save another dog who will take his place.
Ryan will be neutered, vaccinated, chipped and have his own Pet Passport-if you feel Ryan could be the right dog for you, and would like to be kept updated please email us for our questionnaire.
