Sad Rocky

Rocky was a 2-3 year old Mastiff cross who was brought to Battersea by his owners as they could no longer offer him the care he needed after a marriage break up. Rocky took time to settle and build a bond with members of staff on arrival, new owners should be prepared to offer him time and space to settle as he is not trusting of strangers initially.

We are looking for experienced owners who have owned large and strong dogs before, he will not be suitable for the first time dog owner. Rocky was mainly kenneled in his previous home but did have access to the house in the evenings so hopefully he has been house-trained. He travels well in a car and already knows a few basic commands, further training is needed and he is trainable once settled.

Rocky does have a bit of a stubborn streak, his new owners will need to be confident and firm but not too confrontational to get the best out of him. Rocky hasn’t had much socialising with other dogs in the past and isn’t always sure how to react, he will need owners to be confident and continue the social work needed. Unfortunately he cannot live with another dog, cats or children, Rocky needs consistency and time dedicated to him.

Being a large dog Rocky will need a large home and secure garden in a semi-rural or rural location to accommodate him, he needs plenty of open spaces to run around in. Rocky will make a loyal, active and sociable addition once settled, owners must appreciate his character and not try to change him. Rocky has recently been fostered by a member of staff, he has been a good boy within the home environment and we now have more information to give his new owners.

Rocky is a great dog with so much potential, if you feel you can offer him the home he needs please come in to one of our centres for a registration interview or contact the rehoming team at Old Windsor on 01784 494443.
