Sam – 18 month old male Dobermann Cross

Sam is a lovely 18 month old Dobermann cross boy currently being fostered in Warwickshire. He was originally thought to be a German Short-Haired Pointer cross (which is why he came to GSP Rescue) but now known to be a Dobermann – if not pure, then very close.  He certainly looks very like a slightly small Dobermann and has all of the breed traits.

Sam is neutered and vaccinated. Sam is house-trained, crate-trained, travels well in a car; and knows basic commands. He is a typical bouncy lad. He is currently living in a family with two children under 10 years old, another young dog, chickens (securely penned!) and ponies.

He is good with people and dogs, and whilst very interested in the ponies when he arrived, now ignores them.  He plays very enthusiastically with the existing dog.  He does need more work though to stop him stealing food, jumping up to greet people, and his recall when off lead with distractions – all areas which are improving but need more work. Sam is very clever, and can learn things very quickly, although equally he can be stubborn at times!

Last weekend he was taken to visit our behaviorist to have some time socialising with more dogs, and to have a go at the agility course.  He was brilliant and had a go at everything! Sam is looking for an experienced active home where he will receive plenty of exercise, and his training can continue.
