Sam – 10 year old male Yorkshire Terrier Cross

Sam is a 10 year old Yorkshire Terrier cross and is currently on foster in Reading, Berkshire. Sam has really come out of himself after having extensive dental work, so he is now undgoing assessment in a foster home with several other dogs.

From his foster: Sam has been a bit difficult in his foster homes that is why his assessment has been a long time coming. Nobody could quite figure out why, we had him down as a totally spoilt little brat

But today we found out why. Barbara thought he might have something wrong with his sight despite his eyes looking totally normal. The vet check showed that his optical nerves have totally gone and he is blind and has been for quite a while.

This explains all his behaviours – It is a measure of how well he copes that it hasn’t been picked up before. However, given the amount of vet treatment/checks he’s had I’m surprised a vet hasn’t diagnosed previously – it would have made so much difference if we had been aware.

Can you give him an understanding forever home?

All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to rehoming. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family.
