Saul – 4 year old male Beagle Cross

Saul is a 4 year old Beagle cross. Saul is fostered in Gt Yarmouth (FR001). Saul arrived into our care several months ago after living in a private shelter in Romania. The ‘care’ in this shelter could be questioned as many, including Saul appeared to come out more scared than they went in. Saul arrived knowing nothing about domestic life and human kindness and his road to recovery has been long. We feel he has now emerged after all this time and is ready for a home.

Saul is very definitely a follower rather than a leader. He learns keenly from other dogs and only homes with another dog or dogs in will be considered for him. He can live with cats and will generally not say boo to a goose or any other animal. Saul walks well on a lead and is good off lead. He thoroughly enjoys his walks and getting him out and about is key to improving his confidence. Recently he has walked in very social situations and has taken it all in his stride.

Saul is still timid with strangers, particularly men, and may always be but the love he has for his family is all thats really needed to carry him through life. Saul follows me around the house as I potter about always curious about what I’m up to. He enjoys a fuss and a cuddle and has come a long long way from the shut down dog that arrived a few months ago. Saul is gentle but still timid, he likes children but could do without the rowdiness and noise of any under 8. He travels well in a car and can happily be left at home with a dog companion for a few hours without issue.

This is a dog that will reward any efforts put into him tenfold. He is just no trouble at all. It’s true that any men in the household will have to work a little harder to gain his trust but hes proven that time and patience with him pays off.
