Shadow – 4 year old male Scottish Terrier Cross

Shadow is a little, 4-year-old Jack Russell/Poodle cross or something like that… May have some Scottie, Patterdale, Bichon in him. Hard to say… he looks like a small, black Jack but doesn’t shed, which leads us to think he’s a Jackadoodle or ‘doodle’ of some flavour.

From His Foster Parents

Shadow is a fabulous little dog. He’s got that terrier energy and spirit but loves cuddles and fuss. He is fully house-trained and has excellent house manners in general. He can be left alone just fine and is not destructive. He barely barks (when he does it’s sort of an odd croak…). Shadow knows basic commands like “sit”, “stay”, and “down” and we are working on “heel”. He knows his name and his recall appears to be ok but he would benefit from more training.

A standout feature of this little fellow is that he is very friendly. He will go to people easily and likes nothing more than to cuddle up next to you. He’s easy to be with and good company. He is not food aggressive or possessive with his toys and we have had child visitors with whom he got on just fine.

Shadow is super cute, with funny little bat-like ears that are soft as silk compared to the wire-haired rest of him. He has been neutered, is up to date on vaccinations, flea prevention, and dewormer. He is too thin and does need to put on weight.

We have been told that he doesn’t get on well with dogs but haven’t experienced that. We have taken Shadow on long walks with neighbourhood dogs and he has been interested, social and appropriate. Perhaps this is more of an issue in terms of sharing his space in the home or perhaps he had issue with a particular dog or they had issues with him. Shadow definitely wants to chase cats and he gets very excited when he sees them. He does not appear aggressive, just over-the-top excited. He would be better living without cats but could possibly live with one with a lot of self confidence who could put him in his rightful place. He does not seem particularly interested in livestock or horses.

Shadow’s ideal home would be one with a sturdy backyard fence (he is a terrier, after all) with a person/family who would play with him, walk him (he loves walks, practically does back flips when he sees the leash) and adore him. He is young, fun, and healthy and would fit in great with the bustle of normal family life. Given the chance, Shadow would worm his way onto your couch, under your covers, and deep into your heart.

Shadow is being fostered in Hampshire, near Basingstoke.
