Sky – 6 year old female West Highland White Terrier

Sky is a 6 year old female West Highland White Terrier. Sky came into us as an ex breeding bitch. She will only be rehomed with another calm, neutered resident dog to help with building her confidence in the home and around humans. Sky loves being tickled and fussed and being brushed by her fostermum who she has learnt to trust. New owners will need to be patient and build a bond with her but she is getting less nervous of new people. She is happy to let children stroke her however older, quieter children would be better. Sky is great with all dogs. She’s currently living with a large dog and a small one. Sky currently lives with 3 cats with no problems.

Sky is being taken out in the garden to help with her house training which is a work in progress. She has started to run around in circles on the lawn because she’s so happy. She is happy to be left as long as the resident dogs are there. Sky isn’t interested in playing with toys but watches the other dogs playing so she will learn in time. She is not destructive at all and has no problems with food. Sky is starting to come into the living room on her own and be picked up to sit on the sofa with her fostermum.

Sky needs ongoing lead training as she is still scared when the lead is attached. She will need a secure garden as if she found an escape route she would run. Sky will travel happily on the seat or in a crate in the car. Sky as an exbreeding girl needs an experienced quiet home with at least one other dog. She needs someone at home for most of the time willing to carry on her training and teach her to trust. All the family must be willing to work with Sky on slowly and gently building her confidence.

Sky is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and up to date with his flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in Newport, South Wales.

If you are interested in adopting Sky please read about our rehoming process and complete a Pre-Adoption form ( link here ) and one of our adoption coordinators will contact you for a chat.
