This is Smudge a small 7 year old black Working English Cocker Spaniel. He is a gorgeous cuddle monster in the making. Due to previous lack of walks and attention he can be a bit giddy, but this is improving, especially after being neutered. He’s friendly and submissive with other dogs, and despite being bullied a little by our resident dog he still wants to be friends. Smudge is eager to please, especially if there is a cuddle or a treat at the end. His recall is good, and very cocker-like he has selective deafness, but he always comes back. He’s pulls on the lead, but we’re working on it and it’s getting better.
He is okay being left, and sleeps happily in his crate in the kitchen at night. He travels well, but would prefer to be next to you, but he’s learning his place (on the back seat). He still has some issues with guarding and does growl around his crate, especially if he’s stressed; for this reason he needs an experienced forever home with no young children. Cats are OK, but other small furries not tested.
Smudge loves his food but will wait to start eating, and is possibly the messiest drinker we’ve ever seen. He’s obviously been to the secret Spaniel puppy training school, as he has the big puppy eyes that melt your heart down to a T. If you decide Smudge is the dog for you you’ll have a very loving companion who just wants to be with you. Smudge is in foster in Pudsey West Yorkshire and he is neutered, vaccinated, chipped, wormed and flead.
