Smurf – 3-5 year old male Cross-Breed

Smurf is a 3-5 year old male Cross-Breed. Smurf was found tied to a gate and abandoned so we have no history of his past. Smurf is a very handsome boy! He loves to go for a walk and explore the environment and a pleasure to sit down and relax with. He is toy and food motivated but also happy to sit down and cuddle up and let time pass. Smurf struggles meeting new people, he would be the sort of boy that takes time to get to know you. Because of that, he just needs a devoted special person who can take him under their wing and keep him safe. He is especially frightened of meeting men. And the dark. But we have successfully introduced him to new people since he arrived at Glendee and once he knows you he is your best forever friend. For this reason he is going to be a dog best suited to on lead walks only. He barks at things that frighten him and will become reactive if people walk too close to him when you are out and about. He needs space.

Smurf is a very sweet and loving boy with a very big heart. He would suit a relaxed household that can provide a lot of love and affection as well as take him on a nice long walk. We also ask for a calm environment in which he can relax and be safe. He likes lots of food but we feed him a raw Diet, Barking Heads or Natures Diet at Glendee which he is happy to have either. He has been fit and healthy during his time with us, no seen issues, a chipped tooth was removed when he was castrated. Located at Glendee Rescue, Hertfordshire.

Smurf is currently enjoying basic training with us at Glendee. This includes walking on a lead nicely, and the sorts of things we can do in a kennel environment to help him adjust to a home environment when he finds a home, like how to use a sofa. He likes to give strangers he meets a wide birth and given the time to make good decisions, his choice is always to avoid things that frighten him, he is also frightened of the dark.

This is our current assessment, the assessments are on-going as always, and although we temperament test our dogs in many situations, we cannot know how they be when they arrive in your home, support is given as always be given by the trainer you are matched to.
