Snoopy - 8 month old male Beagle Cross

Snoopy is an 8 month old male Beagle cross who has had a very bad life so far and I am looking for someone who can help him overcome his problems. Snoopy was homed but was returned to rescue today. He was purchased from a petshop in Sutton, Surrey by a family consisting of five children and two parents all with severe learning disabilites.

The parents, who were barely coping with their 5 disabled children, bought this adorable dog when he was 8 weeks old and he has had a life of sheer hell and torment with severe cruelty being inflicted on him by all of the children. Because the kids were out of control and the parents found it nearly impossible to cope with it all, the dog has had a life so far of being pulled about, poked with sharp objects, had his ears pulled and had severe blows to his body.

In all honesty the petshop should never have homed any animal to this family considering that they are well known in the area for cruelty to animals. Snoopy is out of there now, but has some serious rehab to start. He suffers from extreme seperation anxiety for a start. He is absolutely fine when people are around, but gets very scared when left.

Because my dogs go to work with me the kennel environment does help as the dog can be left during the day and he can come to no harm and they then learn that their person is to return after they have been left for a period of time. We are also working on his behaviour in the home as the dogs come home with me in the evening.

Snoopy is fairly confident with people surprisingly. When he arrived first time round he was quite cringy, but he has quickly come around and loves to play and loves his food! He is a stubborn dog and (typically of the Beagle breed) listens only when he wants to making him hard to train for obedience. Food is the way to his heart though and with treat training he should progress.

He is also destructive if he gets bored, but he should grow out of this as he matures with guidelines and training. This is a habit he learned in his first home because he was never exercised. An important thing to know about Snoopy is that he cannot live with young children. He is worried by them and this was the reason that he was returned from his last home. He was badly treated by children and now he tries to dominate them.

He is NOT dominant over adults though. He took to chewing at the kids hands and it got so rough that the people felt that they could not cope with him. He is good with other dogs and loves a good rough and tumble with a like minded dog. He is not in anyway aggressive with other dogs and is fine with cats too. He just ignores them. He shows an interest in small caged animals, but it is only a passing glance really.

We have had Snoopy castrated and he is fully vaccinated and micro-chipped. If anyone feels that they can give Snoopy the extra time and dedication that has been lacking so far in his life then please contact me.
