Sooty – 11 year old female Brittany Spaniel

Poor Sooty is an 11 year old Brittany Spaniel girl who has found herself in our care after her elderly owner moved into a nursing home. She had been a loyal companion to her owner since she was a puppy so this must have been such a big change for her, not only loosing her owner but finding herself in a completely new place too. Luckily for Sooty she is in a foster home with a member of the kennel team and she is doing amazingly well.

Sooty is not in the best condition at the moment, she has a chronic skin condition and is very overweight. Her eyesight is not perfect but she can still see and gets about well. We have ran blood tests which have all came back as normal and in addition to this Sooty is already starting to lose weight! Her skin is also improving with medicated baths.

Sooty shares her foster home with other dogs and cats who she gets along really well with and her foster mum feels she would benefit from living with other animals.

She is happy to be left alone for a few hours but will scratch at the door if she knows you are there. She is still very playful for her age but can only manage short walks. She will also need help getting in and out of the car. Although Sooty has a lovely temperament, a quiet home with older children would suit her best.

Sooty is just one of the most sweetest old ladies ever. She really has taken everything in her stride and even seems to have a new lease of life. She will make such an entertaining and adorable friend.
