Speedy – 1 year old male Greyhound cross Lurcher

Speedy is a 1 year old, large sized, Greyhound cross Lurcher. 44 inches plus tail an additional 18 inches in lenght and 28 inches to his shoulder in height. He weights around 40KG. Speedy would need an experienced owner as he is very nervous at first. He is a very submissive boy showing absolutely no signs of aggression. Speedy seems to be an extreme example of fight or flight and will always choose flight, so he would need a very secure garden and an owner who has experience with nervous dogs, an owner who is patient and loving who will give Speedy the time and encouragement he needs.

Speedy adores other dogs and he would benefit from living in a home with a more confident dog. Speedy walks well in a harness, Speedy cannot use a collar due to a fear of damaging his neck.

Speedy CANNOT be walked off lead unless in a secure area. Speedy shows no signs of food aggression and he is happy to eat with the other dogs in his foster home. In the house he is clean and quiet. Speedy is afraid of cages and confined spaces but he sleeps in his own bed in his foster home and will go to his bed happily if told.

Speedy is a sweet, gentle boy, who is just looking for love. Speedy needs a firm routine as this gives him comfort. Speedy would be much better suited to a rural life; traffic, loud music, shouting, crowds etc. will simply petrify him. He will always be a nervous dog but that doesn’t mean he can’t be a happy dog.

Charity policy is not to rehome any dogs with children under 14 years old. Paws2Rescue is a Surrey based charity that was set up to help the street dogs of Romania. We help a lucky few to find loving homes in the UK and Europe; so far we have re-homed over 500 dogs. We help trusted rescuers in Romania to whom we send desperately needed food, bedding and medical supplies. We are a thriving small charity and with your help we can continue our work. We are fully aware that there are many UK dogs needing help; however the level of cruelty in Romania is so high that we cannot turn away. We have personally witnessed many barbaric acts and are committed to the fight to help these dogs.
