Stanley is an absolutely stunning 5 month old lemon and white Wire Haired Podenco cross. The Podenco is a small sight hound, very much like a greyhound, Lurcher or Whippet in terms of temperament and generally hardy and rugged. Podencos are becoming popular here in the UK. They are active, athletic dogs and jump surprisingly high for their size. They tend to do well at agility and make wonderful pets. Unlike the greyhound, they don’t just hunt by sight, they also hunt by listening and tracking so they are very bright little buttons and make engaging, entertaining companions.
Stanley’s Mum had originally been a pet but she was found as a stray with her pups and Stanley was very timid to begin with. However, he has been in a wonderful foster home and is now coming out of his shell and gaining in confidence every day. He likes his toys, and he likes a fuss but Stanley will need somebody who is kind and patient to help him gain 100% of his confidence and not just 90%. He will make a superb companion and pet, he is good with other dogs and cats and could go to a home with children. He’s a cracking little dog who is just waiting for that special home where he can really shine.
FOSTERERS REPORT: Stanley is a beautiful little dog once he knows you. He is a lap dog, and likes his eating and sleeping, but as he is growing in confidence he is beginning to play more, but he is not as energetic as his sister! Stanley is crate trained and clean overnight. During the day he will go to the door to be let out. Stanley is not a chewer and he is not a barker. He can be left for a few hours without any trouble. He is just getting used to walking out in his harness and he would benefit from training classes once he is a bit older and has had time to settle in his new home. He is no bother and a cracking little dog. No known health issues.
Stanley is microchipped, vaccinated, up to date with flea and worm treatments and has a full passport. He is not neutered because he is not yet old enough but having him neutered at the appropriate age is a condition of adoption.
Angel’s Kiss only uses kennels for immediate rescue and emergencies, all dogs advertised for adoption have been fostered, so they can become familiar with the normal sights and sounds in a family and a household. It is with fosterers that these troubled souls learn what it is like to live in a home, sleep on a bed, eat a decent meal and know what it is to be loved. Fostering is the bridge from the old life to the new. Stanley is in a foster home in Wirral. Angel’s Kiss homes dogs throughout the UK but anybody interested must be willing to travel to meet them at their foster home.
If you are interested in adopting Stanley please get in touch with us through this website. The adoption fee is £250 and we always require a homecheck. This is done through a national network of rescue volunteers and usually does not take more than a few days to arrange.
