Sunny – 5 year old male Shih Tzu

Sunny is a 5 year old male Shih Tzu who is not a typical lap dog, and can live up to the breed name! He loves to have a fuss by people that he knows, but not by people that he doesn’t. This bond is built up over time and respect for each other. He loves his treats so if you have plenty of them then you are on to a winner! Due to this behaviour you will have to come and visit him many times before he goes home. When he is in a playful mood he will chase a ball but he soon gets bored of this! So new owners will have to think of other ways to get him thinking. He does not like the vets and will need to be muzzled every time he goes. He is very stroppy around food and must be left at all times when eating, and he can never have long lasting chews.

Sunny has been in our care for a while now, with a few unsuccessful rehomings. Therefore we are looking for a very experienced home that will work through his problems and carry out the training our staff have laid out for him. He will need to be the only dog in the house as he gets very jealous, but he loves to have friends when out and about in the park. Sunny is not suitable to be around children as he needs calm experienced handlers, so he will require an adult only home. He can be left for up to 4 hours in an indoor crate.
Sunny requires a special home where his new owners are willing to work through his issues and give him a routine and confidence, if you think you are suitable you will need to meet with our staff and carry out a number of visits. Please call to see if he is available.
