Sven is a one year old male Greyhound cross possibly with a Labrador or similar. Sven is fostered Gt Yarmouth (FR001). This gentle and sweet boy has been through more in his short life than can be imagined by a normal mind. As a pup he was beaten and electrocuted and then abandoned at a shelter in Bosnia. Rescuers took pity on him and his equally terrified and trembling brother and took him to safety. He has been in a foster home with another rescue here in the UK for five months and his confidence has been almost fully restored. Their only stumbling block was getting him lead trained so he came to us for this to be achieved.
Fortunately he is now lead trained and absolutely loving the new world and experiences it has been the final boost in confidence he needs to make him ready for permanent adoption. There’s nothing I can say that truly depicts how brave and proud this boy is. After horrifying and humbling beginnings this miracle dog has emerged friendly and living with people, adores children, is brilliant with other dogs and has even lived happily with cats and rabbits!
I do not know how he found it within himself to trust again after what he endured but somebody reading this will be forever grateful he did because he is going to make one of you an amazing pet. Of course there will still be moments when he feels scared we can rehabilitate him but we cannot erase the memories for him sadly. We just want him to be loved and appreciated so much for the rest of his life he deserves it. Sven also needs to live with another dog.
