Sylvie – 2 1/2 year old female Greyhound

Beautiful Sylvie is a 2 1/2 year old Greyhound girl who came into Gaps care via the kennels before being vaccinated, kennel cough vaccinated, deflead, de wormed, microchipped and spayed. She is now being fostered in Essex.

Sylvie is a beautiful brindle girl who is very gentle and timid at first when she meets you but soon comes out of her shell. She is currently living with three other Greyhounds and Lurchers who are helping her learn all there is to know about life. She generally gets on well with them well but can be a little bit possessive of her toys and her carers but isn’t aggressive. She would also be happy to exist as an only dog if someone was around to settle her in to begin with. She walks well on lead and pays little or no interest to other dogs or cats when out and about.

Sylvie has had a full small dog test which she passed with flying colours she was totally unphased or interested. She has also met cats in a home environment and showed little to no interest when they were sitting still. When the cat got up to move she did follow but calmly and had a sniff as the cat stopped to rub up her leg lifting its tail to allow her to sniff. However, she was very interested in the tortoise and helped the cat to chase it at one point!! We feel that Sylvie could learn to live with cats but it would need some time and patience and lots of supervision. It would be preferable if it was a home that already had experience of introducing cats and Greyhounds and monitoring the situation already.

Sylvie has housetrained quickly and learns new things with very little instruction. She is fine to be left and travels well once in the car. However, she does though need some gentle persuasion to actually get into the car, usually resulting in being lifted in!

All in all Sylvie is a stunning little girl with the capabilities to be an all round wonderful hound. Her foster carer has said that this girl is destined to be somebody’s darling. A homevisit will be required and you must be willing to travel to meet Sylvie in her foster home.
