Meet Jake (white chest) and Benji are adorable 5 year old black Labrador cross Collie brothers who need to be rehomed as a pair. They are wonderful dogs in many ways: safe and responsive off lead, great with other dogs, happy to live with cats, adore children, are intelligent and well trained.
Because they have each other for company, they can be left for short periods. However, they do love human contact too and look forward to a game or a cuddle. If you are looking for true “family” dogs, we doubt you would find better than these!

Meet Connie and Mason, they are two female and male 5 year old + dogs, Connie is a Dachshund cross Jack Russell Terrier, Mason is a Spaniel cross Basset Hound. Connie and Mason are a delightful pair of little dogs with two different personalities, but very bonded to each other. As they have been together for 5 years we want to rehome them as a pair.
Connie is very lively and definitely the dominant one. She is determined to get on your lap and have a really good cuddle. Mason is a gentle soul and seems more sensitive. He loves affection too but is not so insistent.
They are extremely friendly but apparently do not like other dogs very much and will be brave and feisty when on leads but run away from other dogs when off lead. They are not good with cats but are good with kids.

Meet George and Bruno, two male Boxers (George is 6 years old in June), Bruno is younger. who have lived together and were surrendered together. He is a very nice chap, loves cuddles and especially loves cuddles from kids! His favourite thing in the world though is going out for a walk with Bruno and having a good zoom about (he will return when he has had a good play thank-you very much). He will sit on command and give a paw.
George, pictured above.
George is good with other dogs. Bruno is the more playful one of the terrible twosome and usually the one to start off any games. again loves human contact Bruno is quite capable of opening doors himself so will need to be watched as he had been known to take himself and George off for a walk without a human with them!
Bruno, pictured above.
He is a very playful dog and if he is off his lead will chase after anything he see’s (other dogs , horses, cats, squirrels etc) and wil come back in his own good time unless you have something more interesting to make a recall worthwhile!

Nancy and Annie are two Border Collies (mother and daughter) who were pulled off of death row in Ireland and will need a home together. Annie is 8 weeks old and Nancy is 2 years old. Annie has a condition called Anophthalmia. It means that she was born with no eyes. Nancy did have two other puppies with her. One was fine and the other one had just one eye.
An appeal was launched but all rescues asked in the UK agreed to take mummy and two sighted pups but refused the little girl with no eyes because they felt she would be too difficult to rehome. The other two puppies were placed in a rescue and I agreed to take Nancy and Annie.
(Annie, pictured above)
Because Annie has never known any different she uses her other senses perfectly. She also uses mummy as a guide, hence why they have to go together. As Annie grows she will learn the layout of her home and surprise her new owner as to how well an animal can adapt to a disability.
Whoever adopts these lovely girls will need to consider their home and if it is suitable for a blind dog. For example, the new owner will have to have a garden and this would need to fully fenced with no escape holes. A sighted dog getting out the garden is bad enough, but if a blind dog were to escape then it could find itself in real danger.
(Nancy, pictured above)
There can be no ponds or steep drops (i.e. high steps). I would expect a minimum fence height of 6 foot (mum can see afterall!) and Annie would need to be walked onlead (possibly an extenadable lead or a training lead) otherwise a blind dog could easily wander off and get lost.
I personally have owned a blind dog and it is not as daunting as you might think. Annie has never known having sight so she is not going to miss it and is a happy and loving puppy. The dog will learn the layout of her home and house-training is just the same as with a sighted pup. Once they know where the door is then they get the idea very quickly.
Nancy loves her baby and is very bonded with her and they cannot be split up. Nancy will be spayed as soon as she comes into rescue and has had her first vaccinations, has been wormed and defleaed. She will have her second vaccinations before leaving us. She will also be microchipped.
Annie has had her first vaccinations and will have her second vaccinations before leaving us. She will be micro-chipped and will need to be spayed at about 5 months old. I am looking for an understanding home for these girls with someone at home for the majority of the day and no young children.
If you feel you can offer the total dedication that these girls need then please contact me. These girls are due to arrive on 25th April.

Meet Jack and Sandy. Jack is a 5 year old male Greyhound, Sandy is a 6 year old female Greyhound. These two lovely dogs have sadly found themselves needing a new home due to the sad loss of their Dad. They are currently in residence with Carla his daughter and husband and two dogs of their own. Carla is not able to keep four dogs long-term but understandably doesn’t want to see these two back in kennels as Sandy the black and white girl especially can be nervous and they don’t want to see her set back.
(Sandy, pictured above)
As lovely as it would be to find these two a home as a pair we totally understand and appreciate that that may not be possible so are willing to home them individually as long as they will have another canine companion in the home. We also need to look for foster homes for them to go into. Here is what Carla has to say about the dogs….
Jack has very good social skills as he has been away from a racing environment and living in a home for 2 years. He lives with a greyhound bitch called Sandy as well as a Grehound cross Collie female and a male Labrador. He also gets on well with all our family’s visiting dogs which range in sex and in size from the very large to very small.
(Jack, pictured above)
He loves to play with other dogs in the garden but is not really sure what to do with toys so will usually watch them play and join in the running around bit. Jack is very tolerant of the other dogs and very laid back in the home. He sleeps alot and likes nothing better than to lie next to you on the sofa with his head on your knee for a stroke. He will sit there all day (and longer I think) for a cuddle! He is very good with children even our very loud and excitable niece! He has starting sleeping on the furniture which we have allowed but is just as happy on the floor or hearth in front of the fire.
He has been used to 3 short walks a day but is happy enough with a play in the garden (and a dig) and a little toddle out occasionally. He has been let off the lead but only when he is really used to the area as he is very fast and does laps. He does jump about sometimes when he sees other dogs on the pavement but will walk past them and is not aggressive if they come over to him. We think he is just desperate to play with them.
He is however not really a cat person and so would be best off in a non feline environment. He is however living in a house with 2 pet rats at the moment and doesn’t seem bothered by them in the slightest. Jacks ideal home is with someone without cats and who will give him the love he is desparate for but other than that he’s quite an adaptable chap. He is vaccinated, deflead, dewormed, micro-chipped and neutered.
He is good to be left with or without the company of other dogs and is totally non destructive. He also travels well in the car. Jack needs a new home through absolutely no fault of his own as his owner has sadly passed away - he deserves a 5* permenant home to live out his days in as he is a very special boy.
Sandy has very good social skills as she has been away from a racing environment and living in a home for 2 years. She lives with a greyhound dog called Jack as well as a grehound/collie x bitch and a male labrador. She also gets on well with all our family’s visiting dogs which range in sex and in size from the very large to very small. She loves other dogs but is very timid so will usually watch them play from the sofa! Sandy is very tolerant of the other dogs and very laid back in the home. She sleeps alot but she does like regular walks and will come and ask for them at the appropriate times during the day!
She is excellent with children even our very loud and excitable neice who has been walking her and spends her evenings trying to get Sandy to play with her! She has starting sleeping on the furniture which we have allowed but is just as happy on the floor or hearth in front of the fire. She has been used to 3 short walks a day and has been let off the lead but only at home when she was used to the area.
She does come back to her name even when other dogs are about. She is perfect on the lead and you barely know she’s there as she walks to heel. She does like to do a lot of stopping and sniffing though so she can drag out her walk. She is however not really a cat person and so would be best off in a non feline or small pet environment. Sandy’s ideal home is with someone without cats and who will give her lots of love and take her on nice walks.
She is vaccinated, deflead, dewormed, micro-chipped and spayed. She is good to be left with or without the company of other dogs and is totally non destructive. She also travels well in the car. Sandy needs a new home through absolutely no fault of her own as her owner has sadly passed away - she deserves a 5* permenant home to live out her days in as she is a truly adorable girl.
Each of them has an RSPCA dog bed, leather collar and lead, fabric collar for in the house and spare fabric lead, muzzle, vaccination record, feeding stand with 2 metal bowls, shampoo and a tick remover and other bits and pieces. I would not part with them unless I really had to so I hope we can find them good homes - as I said before they can be homed separately.
11Apr2008 | Greyhound Gap | READ MOREBinnie and Connor
The Blue Cross animal adoption centre in Burford is appealing for dog lovers to come forward to help life-long friends Binnie and Connor. They have been through a rough time and would love to find a special home together. Binnie is a 12 year old brindle and white medium sized cross-breed girl. She adores human company almost as much as she worships Connor. Connor is a 10 year old Boxer boy who still enjoys a game and a fuss. Both dogs are extremely affectionate and have been really brave.

(Binnie, pictured above)
The charity took in the pair after their owner became too ill to look after them. Sadly, both dogs were poorly too and have since received veterinary treatment for a cancerous condition. Both dogs are doing well after their surgery and are currently well and happy, but their illness may return.
The Blue Cross is looking to find a foster home to help the soulmates enjoy the time they have left. The Blue Cross foster care scheme means the charity will pay for any future veterinary treatment needed for their condition.

(Connor, pictured above)
Nikki Smith, Blue Cross centre manager at Burford said: “We are desperate for this lovely pair of dogs to find a new home. They aren’t enjoying kennel life and really deserve to be looked after in a cosy home environment. They will make a great addition to the household with lots of love they still want to give.”
Anyone who is interested in sharing Connor and Binnie’s twilight years should contact The Blue Cross in Burford on 01993 822483 or visit the centre for more information at Shilton Road, Burford, Oxon OX18 4PF.
1Apr2008 | The Blue Cross | READ MOREBertie and Tommy
Meet Bertie and Tommy! These two are Bertie (tan), 4 years neutered male Terrier cross and Tommy (white and tan), 3½ years neutered male Terrier cross. They came in because their previous owners could no longer look after them. They are good with other dogs but not cats. They can be homed with children 10 years or older and would like a home together.
Molly and Rosie
Molly is a 4 year old Greyhound female and and Rosie is a 3 year old female Saluki cross who have come to us because their owner is no longer able to give them the attention they need. She was devastated to give them up but realised it was best for them to find a new home - together if possible.

(Molly, pictured above)
She’s quite confident and outgoing, very friendly to people and other dogs but NOT cat friendly! She’s just come into season so we need to wait till we can get her spayed. She’s white with black patches and is very pretty. She’s also suffering with “Happy Tail” at the moment.

(Rosie, pictured above)
She is very nervous and skittish of things she’s unsure of and this is why we’d rather she was rehomed with Molly if possible, so give her confidence. She needs an experienced owner who will be able to deal with her anxiousness when out on walks. She’s also good with other dogs and people but NOT cat friendly. Both Molly and Rosie are fine with children and are house-trained and okay to be left for short periods. Rosie is to be spayed next week.
