Annie has served her time at the pound and is now looking for a special home to call her own. Can you offer this lovely girl a home to call her own?

Echo - 6 year old male Japanese Akita

Echo is an older Japanese Akita gentleman who is a bit of a looker! Aged approximately 6 years of age he has been calm and nice natured whilst in the kennels and is therefore a firm favourite with the lady who is looking after him. Echo has served his time at the pound and is now looking for a home to call his own. Can you offer this lovely gent a new home to call his own?

Binnie and Connor

The Blue Cross animal adoption centre in Burford is appealing for dog lovers to come forward to help life-long friends Binnie and Connor. They have been through a rough time and would love to find a special home together. Binnie is a 12 year old brindle and white medium sized cross-breed girl. She adores human company almost as much as she worships Connor. Connor is a 10 year old Boxer boy who still enjoys a game and a fuss. Both dogs are extremely affectionate and have been really brave.

The charity took in the pair after their owner became too ill to look after them. Sadly, both dogs were poorly too and have since received veterinary treatment for a cancerous condition. Both dogs are doing well after their surgery and are currently well and happy, but their illness may return.

The Blue Cross is looking to find a foster home to help the soulmates enjoy the time they have left. The Blue Cross foster care scheme means the charity will pay for any future veterinary treatment needed for their condition.

Nikki Smith, Blue Cross centre manager at Burford said: “We are desperate for this lovely pair of dogs to find a new home. They aren’t enjoying kennel life and really deserve to be looked after in a cosy home environment. They will make a great addition to the household with lots of love they still want to give.”

Anyone who is interested in sharing Connor and Binnie’s twilight years should contact The Blue Cross in Burford on 01993 822483 or visit the centre for more information at Shilton Road, Burford, Oxon OX18 4PF.

Molly and Rosie

Molly is a 4 year old Greyhound female and and Rosie is a 3 year old female Saluki cross who have come to us because their owner is no longer able to give them the attention they need. She was devastated to give them up but realised it was best for them to find a new home - together if possible.

ll_molly2.jpg

(Molly, pictured above)

She’s quite confident and outgoing, very friendly to people and other dogs but NOT cat friendly! She’s just come into season so we need to wait till we can get her spayed. She’s white with black patches and is very pretty. She’s also suffering with “Happy Tail” at the moment.

ll_rosie.jpg

(Rosie, pictured above)

She is very nervous and skittish of things she’s unsure of and this is why we’d rather she was rehomed with Molly if possible, so give her confidence. She needs an experienced owner who will be able to deal with her anxiousness when out on walks. She’s also good with other dogs and people but NOT cat friendly. Both Molly and Rosie are fine with children and are house-trained and okay to be left for short periods. Rosie is to be spayed next week.

Larry - 4 year old male Lurcher

Larry is a Lurcher (probably Greyhound cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier) male aged approximately 4 years old who has come to us via a dog warden, with a history of being a hard working dog, so I’d guess not cat friendly. He is prematurely greying around his muzzle, the rest of his body shows how fit he is. He’s such a happy little soul, his tail’s always wagging.

ll_larry.jpg

He’s clean and quiet in his kennel and he gets on well with other dogs BUT does pull on the lead, so I now walk him with a headcollar as he may only be little (about 22 inches) but he’s really strong! He’s a really lovely little dog and would make a great family pet as he adores people and children.

He deserves a loving home to retire to after his working days and to have a comfy sofa of his own.  Larry has been vaccinated, micro-chipped and neutered.

Janek - 12 - 18 month old male Saluki Cross

Janek is a young black and tan Saluki cross male aged between 12-18 months old. Janek has come to us via a dog warden in Cumbria, who took him to the vet to try and save his broken leg (sadly too old an injury and too far gone to do so) and once Janek had the leg removed, the dog warden fostered him at his own house until well enough to come to us.

ll_janek.jpg

As you can see from his photograph above, he is now missing a hind leg, but that’s certainly not slowing him down any - he’s been out running for 20 minutes a couple of times a day whilst he’s been in foster care. Janek is house-trained and good with other dogs and has been well behaved with the dog wardens kittens and chooks too. He can be a little nervy with strangers, but soon settles down once he realises they’re not going to hurt him. He loves being cuddled.

Joe - 5-6 year old male Lurcher

Joe is a lovely Lurcher boy aged around 5-6 years old who was found wandering in a bit of a bad state. He was taken in by his finders, as he got on okay with their other dogs.but sadly, he didn’t like cats and cannot be rehomed with them and so Joe came to me, where he’s been waiting out his month until we could rehome him.

ll_joe.jpg

He’s been an absolute star here - he’s not bothered about the chooks at all, but he is VERY keen on the cats and rabbits. He can be a bit “macho man” with strange dogs he meets when out, but if he doesn’t see any, he’s a dream on the lead - a real gent! Joe is fine to be left for short periods and is clean and quiet when left. He’s okay with older kids, but may be a bit bouncy for very young ones. Joe is micro-chipped and wormed and will be neutered and vaccinated in the next week.

Pilot - 2 year old male Lurcher

Pilot is a Lurcher male aged approximately 2 years old. He’s a solid, chunky lad, not very tall (24ins) with a rough-ish black coat and beautiful soft brown eyes. He is not cat friendly and may have been involved in an incident involving sheep and so cannot be rehomed where he can come into contact with livestock.

ll_pilot.jpg

He’s obviously been worked VERY hard and has the scars to prove it. He would need careful testing with small dogs too. He would however be well rehomed with Wisp (also featured on DogsBlog.com) as he really does rely on her for his confidence. He was extremely traumatised by what had happened to him (I won’t go into it all on here) and has nasty injuries to boot, he took a while to come out of his shell and trust me, but now he has, he’s such a loyal dog.

We need to be very picky about a new home for him because in the wrong hands, in the wrong environment, he could suffer. He’s not stupid though and is quick to learn new behaviour but is VERY strong if he wants to be.

Wisp - 2 year old male Bearded Collie cross Lurcher

Wisp is a female pale fawn and tan rough-coated Bearded Collie cross Lurcher aged approximately 2 years old. Wisp is not cat friendly and may have been involved in an incident involving sheep and so cannot be rehomed where she can come into contact with livestock.

ll_wisp.jpg

I would prefer her to be rehomed with Pilot (also featured on DogsBlog.com) if possible as he relies on her for confidence. Wisp has come to us after being found by a dog warden in dodgy circumstances. She is vaccinated, neutered, micro-chipped and de-fleaed. She has a lovely nature, can a be a tad jealous if you’re trying to do something with another dog though, but all in all she’s a total babe.
