Kia - 1 year old female Japanese Akita
Kia is a lovely 1 year old Japanese Akita girl who in her short life has lived with two different owners. Kia is a real “people” dog, who has had some basic training, however this will need to be continued by her new owner, as it is suspected that she got away with a lot in her previous homes!
She will sit for a treat, appears to be dog-friendly and has previously lived with children. Kia is spayed, micro-chipped, vaccinated and is currently in the care of a rescue in the Fife area.

Kai is a 16 month old male Japanese Akita. He is a big playful pup who desperately needs a home to call his own. He is slightly under weight at the moment but is very strong. He needs a firm but loving owner to carry on his training.
He has not been well socialised with other dogs, he is slightly scared of them but has no aggression, with some socialisation he should live happily with another dog without any problems. Kai is not tested on cats or kids. Due to his size, he will not go to a home with kids under the age of 8.

Nala is a Japanese Akita female who will be 3 this year and comes as a pair with Keitaro, FOA ref 12. She currently lives with children but is not keen and seeks her outside kennel for a time out, due to this we feel she should not be re-homed with children under 12.
She is house-trained and sleeps in her outside kennel at night. She walks well on the lead and is described by her current owners as playful, loves cuddles, easy going, obedient, very sensitive, confident and active. She is yet to be assessed by Friends Of Akitas, we seek to update ASAP.

Shane is a 5 year old brindle Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross male who is a great dog with everything but cats! Shane was originally adopted from here in 2005. Unfortunately, due to a relationship split, he’s been returned to us.

Shane is a great natured dog who has been a good family pet and will be again very soon we hope. He’s not keen on cats though but he’s great with people, children and other dogs. He’s also house-trained. As he isn’t very keen on being left alone, we’d love him to go to a family household where there would be someone around for most of the time.

Shadow is a Labrador cross Collie aged 8 years 1 months old, he is a lively older boy! Shadow was originally rescued at 11 months old by his present owner and he had been through 2 homes already by then. It was with much sadness that Shadow was given up for rehoming.

Shadow is a very friendly, house-trained chap who loves going for walks, but hasn’t had many recently. He’s not met livestock but hates cats! After only a few hours of being here he mixed well with the other dogs and the people here. We think he’s lovely! Shadow is great off the lead (better than on) and we think he’d love a home where he’s out and about a lot.
The reason Shadow had a few homes when he was younger was that he really hated being left home alone. His long term family have partially solved his problem but we feel it would be best for him to go to a home either with another dog as company, or where his new owners are home most of the time.

Patty is a 10 month old black and white Border Collie female who was found as a stray or abandoned dog. She is in full season. She is very friendly and bouncy.

Patty is a small, young Collie. She is in full season, as a stray, we don’t know how she would get on in a home with other pets or children.

Meg is an 11 year old Labrador cross Greyhound female, this friendly older lady belonged to an elderly gentleman who had owned Meg from a pup. He became too infirm to care for Meg any longer and reluctantly, with no other family to take her, she has been placed with us to be rehomed.

She certainly doesn’t look her 11 years! She is house-trained but has probably been under socialised and as a result is wary of new situations, this sometimes comes across in little Collie-type nips. Because of this we feel she needs a home away from children and where she’ll find the space and time to relax into old age with someone who will love this friendly old girl.

Jet is a 10 month old black Lurcher cross Collie male, Jet is a nice young Lurcher who is best homed as an only pet. He was obtained along with his littermate to replace a much-loved pair of old Lurchers who had died. The gesture was well-intentioned but re-inforces the message that dogs should never be given as surprise presents.

The gentleman needed time to grieve. The puppies ended up with the daughter, and she had them neutered because they did not get on. He is very friendly with people and good with children, but has issues with other pets. This does not present a problem when out walking but he would prefer not to share his home with any other pets. He is fine around livestock, travels well and is house-trained.
