Paddy - 1 year old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross

Meet Paddy, a 1 year old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross who is soooo friendly. He has come from a home with small children and is just too boisterous for them – he kept bumping into them (not on a purpose). He loves going for long walks so we are looking for an active family with older children.

He is used to sleeping in a crate at night and is very quiet. Paddy comes back when called but pulls a little on the lead so a halti or harness should be used.

He seems friendly with other dogs but doesn’t like cats. He’s got a gorgeous, friendly face. The kennel staff say he’s a lovely dog who will make someone a smashing pet. Can you offer him a place in your home and heart?

Steve - 6 year old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross

Steve is a 6 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross male. He is a sweet, independent, reserved dog. He was brought to us by his previous owner as he kept escaping form the garden. He is great with dogs, chickens and ducks but doesn’t like cats.

He is very well behaved and has good recall, he has been brought up with children and is tolerant and happy with them. Steve may take time to settle into a new home but given time he should make a fun pet. He is suitable to live with children over 4 years old.

Chutney - 3 year old male Cross-Breed

This is Chutney, and as you can see he is a gorgeous 3 year old male medium sized cross-breed. He came to us as a stray, and looked as if he had the World on his shoulders. Chutney is underweight, had a dull coat, and a few scars over his body, so we can only guess at the hard existence he might have had previously.

Chutney was wary of us at first, but once he understood that we wanted to help and be kind to him, he started to relax, and has shown us lots of affection and trust! While he has been with us we have discovered quite abit about him, he enjoys his walks, food, toys, chews, and loves nothing more than lots of cuddles!
Chutney will bond closely with a new owner, and will be a very loving companion.

He has a mischievous side to his nature, which is only starting to surface, so we think he will have bags of character in a new home. He  would be best suited to a home without cats or small animals. He is good aound dogs and could possibly live with another dog pending an introduction, although he would benefit from having all of the attention to himself!

He will be suited to a home without children, but could live with sensible teenagers that would be sensitive towards him. Ideally Chutney will need owners around for most of the day, and not routinely left for more than 4 hours.

Blake - 8 year old male Rhodesian Ridgeback Cross

Blake is 8 years young - going on 3 years I reckon! He is a male Rhodesian Ridgeback cross who has lived with a family for 4 years, prior to that he had 3 homes - all forces families I believe, so presumably postings abroad caused him to be moved on. The owner is stationed in Qatar now, his wife living with her parents. She can’t cope with him, plus her dad won’t have dogs in the house, so for 5 months he has lived in the garden and been very unhappy.

Blake is house-trained, good with children and other dogs, though can be a bit bolshy if on a lead. He likes to chase cats, squirrels & pigs! Blake is a bit of a hunter, so care needs to be taken when he is let off lead. Training classes to work on his recall, with distractions present, are strongly recommended.

His owner described him as; cheeky, comical and lots of fun, very, very intelligent with a gentle nature and loves running, walking , swimming and playing with other dogs. He is a fabulous dog and will be a wonderful addition to a family. He will need 6 ft fencing, as, during his exclusion from the family, he did try and find company and would probably have a wonderful time chasing things if he escaped from home.
Blake is a delight to live with: he is clean, quiet, non destructive, affectionate and playful. He is everyone’s friend, welcomes all the new dogs in and shows them around.

Minnie - 8 year old female Rottweiler

Minnie is an 8 year old female Rottweiler who came into RSPCA because her owner has unfortunately been taken away she was being cared for by her a close friend who signed her over. She is already spayed. We’ve had her micro-chipped, wormed, flead, 1st vaccination and health check, she’s got a bit of entropian which is common in Rottweilers, unfortunately her eyes have been allowed to become infected as can be seen in the photos, she has some tablets and drops for it so should clear in time.

She also needs her teeth cleaning and nails clipping so we’ll get that done in due course Minnie has a lovely nature, she does not have any malice, she’s got a very nice temperament indeed and is completely trustworthy. She has been brought up with children, and is good with other dogs, but she’s not good with cats!

She will need someone who is experienced with the breed or large breeds and will make someone a loyal companion, she can be rehomed with older children. Her world has been turned upside down, she’s been with the same owner for 8 years and then put in kennels, she’ll wonder what she’s done to deserve this. She’ll need a home with a decent size garden to run around in and play, lots of nice walks and a cosy bed to put her paws up!

Minnie was centre of attention today going on a nice walk with a few dog walkers, she was so happy to be around people, her tail didn’t stop wagging! She’s such a friendly soppy thing, she even let me clean the gunk out of her eyes, she’ll be in some discomfort with it but she’s so good. Already she’s touched the heart of the dog walkers. Please give this gorgeous girl a chance!

Mabel - 8 year old female Cross-Breed

Mabel is an 8 year old brindle cross-breed female who came into the care of Warrington RSPCA in April 2007 because her owners were working very long hours so felt it fair to rehome her. Through not fault of her own she has always been overlooked she became quite depressed in the kennels after all this time so we took her into our care to give her a chance, just look at the pictures of her in her foster home, freedom at last! Mabel is spayed, microchipped, flead/wormed and fully vaccinated.

Mabel is an absolute joy, a very friendly (now happy!) girl who loves to be with you, she adores playing fetch with balls and frisbies, for the first time today in almost a year and a half she has been off lead to run around, and she’s certainly taking advantage of that!

She is very obedient and knows basic commands. She also loves to roll around in the grass and enjoys a good tummy rub. She travels very well, she’s good with other dogs, if they are too boisterous or catches her by suprise she doesn’t like this but generally with normal introductions she’s fine.

Mabel will make a lovely family pet with older children, she’ll lap up the attention and will want to please everyone, she’ll need a home where she’s not left for long periods and with no cats. We really don’t understand why she was never been noticed in the kennels, she’s got lovely markings and is very pretty indeed she’s medium in size with a lovely smooth coat. She’ll make someone very happy indeed.

Mabel is superb in the home, she has been left numerous times and has not been destructive. She’s not messed once in the house, she’s very affectionate, Philip thinks she’s a lady’s lady as she’s attached herself to Tricia!

She LOVES to play, she’s really clever and very obedient. She’s full of life and loves her walks, she’s very lucky as there’s a canal walk right on her doorstep. She’s come into contact with other dogs and no trouble there, we knew she was fine but you never know!

Her fosterers can’t believe she’s been overlooked and are dreading the day she leaves them to go to her new home  they think she’s beautiful and just can’t fault her!

Lewis - 3 year old male Greyhound cross Saluki

Sadly the beautiful Lewis, a 3 year old male Greyhound cross Saluki had to come back into our care due to him and the new dog he went to live with having a clash of characters. The other dog was quite stand offish at times giving mixed signals and this led to confusion and too much rough play on Lewis’s behalf.

Lewis is currently in foster with three other Lurchers 2 male and 1 VERY dominant female all of whom he gets on well with. The female in the home has put him through his paces and Lewis has completely ignored her behaviour and shown no signs of having a shout back.

Lewis is house trained but did have a couple of accidents when he first landed in his foster home due to unsettledness but this has now rectified. He goes through the night downstairs with the other dogs also without any accidents.

Out on lead Lewis walks well, he can be a little excitable to being with but soon calms down and walks nicely. He has been fine with most other dogs he meets but if he sees a small dog and it barks at him first will react. He is not cat friendly.

Lewis is left during the day with the company of the other dogs as his foster family work, however, they do come home at lunchtime to allow him to the toilet and again he is fine with this. The dogs stay in the living room area and access to the kitchen is blocked at all times as Lewis has a talent for opening cupboards and drawers and helping himself to whatever he fancies.

So any new owner needs to take measures to prevent this. He has now done it in both foster homes and the home he previously went too. In the current foster home as the access is stopped he has only done it once though when they forgot to stop access to the kitchen.

Lewis is a bright intelligent dog who just loves his humans and the company of other hounds. He would love a home with a female hound and would just flourish with her company. Lewis does have good recall off lead in safe areas. Lewis is flea treated, de-wormed, micro-chipped, vaccinated, KC vaccinated and castrated.

Bert - 2 year old male British Bulldog

Bert is a 2 year old Bulldog, possibly Victorian Bulldog (without the breathing problems) who is looking for a new home to call his own. He is absolutely gorgeous the best dog in the kennels, loves to quietly sunbathe but! when he gets in a home his behaviour changes as in he trys to mount people and gets cross when told off.

Our trainer is on hand to show this behaviour to any prospective owners and show them how to deal with it. They should expect to visit our kennels in Kent a few times before being allowed to take him as it is extremely important for Bert that he does not keep bouncing back. He would be best suited in an adult only household as the only pet - he will make an amazing pet for the right people.

Meggie - 10 1/2 month old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross

Meggie is a 10 1/2 month old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross who was found stray and not claimed. She presents as shy by nature and in foster it has taken over a week for her to gain her confidence to play with the other dogs.

She is living with cats but too interested - though voice control is enough. She loves a cuddle and your lap. Generally a lovely lovely dog who could live as an only dog or in with others.

Meggie in newly spayed and vaccinated, she is also micro-chipped. She is a dear, dear dog who captures everyone’s heart. If you are looking for a sweet people dog who is good with dogs and children - Meggie could be your girl!
