Lion - 9 month old male Saluki cross Collie

Lion (was called Sandy) is a Saluki cross Collie aged approximately 9 months old when he came in but has been renamed because he has a sort of mane from his shoulder, neck and ear hair. He is about 25 inches - he prances elegantly like a Saluki. He is very enthusiastic about life and wants to please you most of all.

He had good manners, on and off the lead and travels well. He needs to be castrated but has been wormed and vaccinated. He is house-trained and eats well. Lion doesn’t get on the furniture like the other dogs, but likes a soft rug and a warm fire! He is a kind and affectionate boy, who should do well in agility, or obedience.

Puppy classes would be a good idea to finish his socialisation and teach him even better manners - he will love it! He is friends with the cat, but can try and get too friendly, at which point our rather experienced cat tells him off. While he’s fine with cats who know dogs, it may not be a good idea to put him with young cats who will run away. Other than that, a very nice dog who will be a wonderful addition to any home!

Bouncer - 10 month old male Border Collie

Bouncer is a 10 month old male Border Collie who was brought to Battersea as a stray, he was micro-chipped and our lost dogs and cats department located an owner but sadly they did not want him back. We have limited history on Bouncer but know he has already had a few homes, he needs experienced owners used to Collies or similar high energy working breeds to understand his needs and cope with breed traits.

battersea_bouncer.jpg

Intelligent and trainable youngster who would enjoy and excel in doggy sports like agility, flyball or obedience, he is eager to learn and is a busy boy needing things to do. Bouncer needs most training from scratch, also it is unknown if he is house trained. Ideally he needs to live in a more rural location where he will have plenty of open space.

Bouncer is a loving, responsive and manipulitive boy, he is typical of the breed and loves to chase moving objects so owners will need to work hard on control and recall outside. Bouncer could live with other dogs, he enjoys winding them up if he can and may annoy weaker or elderly dogs.

Once settled and if kept mentally & physically stimulated Bouncer could be left for short periods, he gets bored quickly and is liable to find his own amusements! Ideally we are looking for an all adult household as Bouncer needs a calm approach, teenagers would be considered if experienced with dogs.

In Collie loving hands Bouncer will be a fantastic addition, If you feel you can offer him a new home please contact the rehoming team at Old Windsor on 01784 494443, apply online or email us on bow.rehomers@dogshome.org.

Bo

Meet Bo (Drummer), a 2 1/2 year old black and white Lurcher male. Bo was adopted from the Centre in September last year where he originally came in as a stray. Unfortunately he’s back here because his adopters split up and neither could take him at their respective accomodation.

dcc_bo.jpg

Bo is a strong-willed young dog with a really friendly personality. He’s house-trained, good with children and good at travelling and even been to Edinburgh on the bus! Bo is an incredibly fast learner so could easily do obedience or agility. He is determined that all shoes should be outside except wellies which should be in your bed!

Bo deserves a great home with someone who appreciates his energy and will give the boy a job to do to stop him getting bored.

Scooby

Scooby is a 5 year old Sheltie cross Collie male who came into the shelter in July due to his owner’s ill health. He is quite a complex character and best suited to experienced owners. He has the potential to be a loyal, active and obedient dog but will need calm, patient and firm handling.

It is so important that Scooby has a leader and doesn’t take responsibility for the home as he can be territorial.  Will need mental and physical activity -may suit dog sports.

Unsuitable for living with just one person and not recommended for elderly owners. He could live with children aged 16 years + but would be best suited as the only pet in the household.

Leon

Leon is a Lurcher cross (German Shepherd cross Greyhound) aged approximately 1 year old. He is exceptionally intelligent and affectionate. He is a handsome, athletic, medium sized, short haired dog (22 inches at shoulder) is ideal for obedience/agility or Canine Cross Country racing.

He is perfect for training as he loves to learn. He needs a mature, calm, patient owner who is experienced with handling dogs who has loads of time and love to bring out the best in this super dog - he could go to the top with the right owner. He has also now started obedience training and some agility work over jumps and walls.

He is very affectionate and loyal with people, good with kids but would prefer a home with older kids, no toddlers or babies please. He is not destructive, calm around the house. He is not safe with livestock, chases sheep and cats, he also gets stressed with new dogs but happily lives with my dogs now he is used to them and never causes fights, would like to live with a submissive non-aggressive dog or bitch that he can have as his friend. He is also neutered, wormed, flea treated and cured of kennel cough.
