Teddy (previously Daniel/Nathan) is approximately 5 years old and of medium size – weight 23 kgs – about the size of a Collie and is a German Shepherd cross. When SRS learned that Teddy had spent three years in a Romanian public shelter, they were determined to rescue him. He has been in foster with me for just over two weeks. Thankfully Teddy has come through the horrific experiences of the shelter without his lively spirit being broken. He is an amazing dog who still has great trust in people and is loving and responsive, with a sense of fun and the most captivating eyes. His tail wags furiously at the slightest sign of attention – just a look or a word – and he will ‘speak’ to you with little barks at times, such as when he knows food is coming.
Teddy has quickly adjusted to living in a home and enjoys his home comforts! He is house trained. Though he does have an old injury to his right lower eyelid which causes no problems now and is probably from fighting to survive in Romania, Teddy is good with other dogs. He senses how to approach them and will play with other playful dogs; he especially enjoys playing with his foster brother and Rommie rescue, Max. Teddy has no possession issues with food or toys and will wait for a treat within a group of dogs and take it gently. He loves his walks and though quite strong on the lead, Teddy will walk nicely beside you after his initial excitement at being outside with all the new sights and smells; he will now willingly jump into the car. It is a real privilege to watch this dear boy enjoying freedom at last and helping him move on to a forever home.
