Teddy is a calm and confident 6 year old male Akita. He is friendly, non destructive and house trained, displaying no food aggression unless it is over high value items like a juicy bone which he will unsurprisingly guard. Teddy appears to love being around people although he will not overwhelm them. He simply enjoys sitting quietly amongst the family and visitors. He also enjoys cuddles and pats and reacts positively to these types of attention.
While he knows the basic commands, he will definitely benefit from ongoing training. The only thing to note is that he is accustomed to Polish although he does understand hand signals. Teddy walks well on lead. Despite being strong, he does respect lead space and is manageable. Teddy can possibly live with a similar sized female subject to successful introductions. That said, we would recommend supervision when interacting with other dogs. Teddy is not a fan of the feline variety.
Although Teddy lives with a young child with no issues and he shows no interest, we would prefer he be rehomed in a home with dog aware older children.
If you enjoy walks and spending time with a loving and affectionate companion, Teddy is the man for you! Teddy is currently in Northamptonshire.
