Todd is a three year old Bulldog cross Lurcher. For the most part he is a very happy and affectionate dog, he is intelligent and always eager to earn a treat which helps to make him easy to train. Todd does have some problems with anxiety; while he enjoys the company of other dogs we think that he has not been well socialised and isn’t always sure how he is supposed to say hello. He does well with dogs that are a little more confident or tolerant of his clumsy attempts at friendship, but can be reactive to dogs he doesn’t know at first.
Additionally Todd is terrified of children and becomes very stressed around them, displaying fear aggressive behaviour if a child attempts to touch him, so he will not be rehomed with children. Todd has not been cat tested, but does have a fairly strong chase drive, as it is quite likely he was a working lurcher at some point, so a confident, dog savvy cat would likely be okay. Todd needs a home where he can build his confidence slowly, so would need someone who is patient enough to let him get used to a home environment.
Todd loves walks, is easy to handle on the lead, though can be nervous and reactive in busy environments, and has done well with recall training on a long line. As Todd needs a very understanding home and would do better in a rural environment and an experienced owner we have had difficulty finding a good placement for him. He has now been with us for 206 days, and as you might expect we are very eager to see him living happily in a home.
