Tom – 9 year old male Akita

This is Tom, an older Akita gentleman at 9 in West Yorkshire who went missing and found himself in the pound on death row. Made aware of his plight, his owners decided that they would leave him to his fate. Luckily, Tom has been moved to safe kennels with Friends of Akitas, and is showing just what a lovely boy he is! Tom is very gentle, and whilst he doesn’t appear to have a traditional knowledge of commands, he does have an unusual way of taking treats – and he does love treats!

Fine on the lead, Tom seems interested in other dogs – however this will be further tested when possible. Whilst our kennels are nice, they are no place for an older dog in the medium to longer term, can anyone open their heart and home to Tom?

Thinking about adopting a dog?- How about if we gave you some free dog food to make life easier?

Highly recommended if you’re thinking of adopting a dog:- Compare dog insurance policies and make sure your idea of the cheapest dog insurance isn’t mistaken for the best dog insurance!
