Tommy is a German Shepherd cross of maybe two years old. I agreed to take Tommy quite a long time ago but Tommy is the king of escapism and everytime he was caught by dog catchers he just escaped from wherever they placed him. Tommy was depressed in the shelters and would close himself down and not eat. When he was finally contained long enough to be prepared for travel and get put on the van he was very much a shell.
When Tommy arrived he seemed to respond really well to my rehab methods when to the point of letting me bath him really early on where previously he hadn’t let anyone touch him. Lead training was objected to strongly at first but in two days he had it sussed. Knowing his resourcefulness to escape I never let him out in the garden without him being on a lead and soon he actually started to enjoy the routine here.
Tommy now loves his his walks and plays beautifully with the other dogs with just a trailing lead. I think it’s important that Tommy goes to a confident owner with at least one other dog. Tommy has proven that once his trust is gained he doesn’t want to leave anymore and whilst I am well aware he could get out of my garden and run off he doesn’t seem to want to. He’s still worried when people approach to stroke him but he’s getting better with this all the time and this progress can be continued in a new home.
If you can give this handsome and clever boy a home and be vigilant with him in the early weeks please give us a call. If you are interested please call or message us.
