Tony is a 12 month old male Cross-Breed. Tony came to us back in August after he had traveled to the UK from Romania. Tony was supposed to go to another rescue, but due to him showing signs of fear aggression they were unable to take him in. This left tony with nowhere to go and the possibility of having to go back to Romania. We were alerted to his plight and immediately said yes, so tony then came into foster with the founder of the rescue. Progress has been very slow with Tony, he was very fearful when he first arrived and would growl if anyone approached (within 10 feet of him). It took 3 months of solid routine and time and patience before tony allowed the founder to stroke him. (it took 2 months for him to happily take food out of the founders hand).
Tony is now coming on leaps and bounds and loves to play and have cuddles. We are starting to introduce new people to tony and it is going well. He is still very unsure and hasn’t let anyone else touch him. But will take treats from other people’s hands. He can grumble at times. Tony is potential adopters will need to be willing to work with us and come and see tony regularly to build trust before he will be able to leave (please note this could take weeks or months). Tony is currently learning how to walk on a lead. He is very nervous around leads and needs careful handling with this. He is getting used to having the lead put on him now and will walk a short distance with this on. Lead training will need to be on going. Tony is clean in his kennel, he is currently being very slowly introduced to the house (he will be living fully in the house before he leaves). This is also going well although he can freeze up sometimes. (he is obviously currently scared of the t.v, mops etc).
We are looking for a very experienced dog owner to be able to take this boy on. His training will be on going throughout his entire life, he will need time, patience and a lot of love (on his terms!). Knowledge of nervous dogs is a must for this boy! He would benefit from having a female dog for company, he is absolutely fine with all dogs, but can be a bit grumpy around larger male dogs. Tony has also lived with cats when in Romania and was fine. Tony cannot live with children due to his issues, he has not shown any reaction to the founders children however we are looking for an ADULT ONLY home for this boy. Tony is vaccinated, microchipped and has his pet passport, he is not yet neutered but we will be looking to get this done before he leaves us.
Please contact us if you think you could offer tony his FOREVER home. You must be 100% committed to working with us and Tony, and willing to put alot of time into continuing his training. Please remember he is not yet ready to leave for his forever home but we would love to have a home ready for him when he is ready. You will be required to do lots of meets with Tony to gain his trust before he goes to his forever home.
Tony is currently in foster in the Worcestershire area.
