Tulip would like to find a home with someone who has owned dogs before and is fully prepared for the hard work and long-term commitment involved in caring for a dog.

Tulip needs to go to training classes and she needs a minimum of one to two hours of off lead exercise everyday in a park or open space. It is not yet known how long she can be left alone for she is currently looking for a home where there is someone around for most of the day.

*Update September 2010*

Hello, my name is Tulip

I am a twelve month old female, Japanese Akita and Staffordshire Bull Terrier Crossbreed. I arrived at The Mayhew after being found abandoned on the streets of London.

I am a very confident and friendly girl and I love meeting new people. I’m active and outgoing and I love to play, I will happily play with toys on my own but I much prefer it when people join in the game. I am toilet trained and I know the basic commands. I am good with other dogs and I could live with a well trained male dog providing we were the right match. I don’t like to share my food and I have shown signs of food aggression, with training it is hoped this behaviour will improve.
I am now looking for a new home with someone who is experienced with dogs and will continue my training and take me to training classes, and will provide me with a minimum of one to two hours of off lead exercise every day in a park or open space. I will need to live in an all adult household, although visiting older children will be warmly welcomed. It is not yet known how long I can be left on my own for so I’m currently looking for a home where there will be somebody around for most of the day. Someone with a lot of love to offer me because I am very affectionate, I love to give kisses and snuggle into you. My new guardians will need to be fully prepared for the hard work and long-term commitment involved in caring for a dog; they will be taking on a fourteen year commitment which must not be taken lightly.

I hope to see you soon
Tulip
