Wilf is a 13 month old male Ibzan Hound (Podenco) Cross. Wilf is a very timid young tan rough coated Podenco lad. He stands at 54 cm and he weighs 13.2 kg, so he is not a large dog. He was very timid when he first came to a shelter in Spain, but with time and a lot of attention he came a long way. Now when he gets to know you he loves to play and cuddle. He is good with all other dogs, males and females and loves to play with them. He does not walk on the lead yet, but he is making progress.
Wilf needs his confidence bringing on and then he will need a quiet home with other dogs. Wilf is now in a foster home in the West Midlands and he is coming along in leaps and bounds. Wilf was found starving, foraging on waste ground in Spain. Who knows what this boy has had to suffer in his short life. Wilf needs a calm, quiet home, he will not enjoy living with children or young, full on dogs. Wilf’s ideal home will have an older, stable, calm dog who will give him confidence and not frighten him.
Some of the shelter volunteers were able to get closer to him, when spending lots of time with him and he let them handle him and stroke him, through this Wilf has learnt to trust again. With one of them he even walked on the lead a bit. Wilf is a sweet young dog. When he first went to the shelter he was terrified of everything, but with time and a lot of attention he has come a long way. His foster family are working with him to build his confidence and get this little boy to trust people and know that they will give him lots of love and not hurt him.
Foster report: Wilf has been with us for a couple of weeks. He was very nervous when he arrived and would panic with every movement we made, but he is getting better everyday and will come over to us for fuss now. He is house trained and will ask when he wants to go out and is very good overnight. He is doing well on the lead but gets very nervous and panicky when we pass other people and dogs. I think he will need to live with another calm, relaxed dog who can help him overcome his nervousness and also he will need a lot of socialisation with both people and other dogs. He is cat friendly and house rabbit friendly.
Current location is in a foster home in Birmingham, West Midlands, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated, neutered, microchipped and has a Pet Passport. Adoption Fee : £175– to be paid direct to the Spanish rescue to cover travel costs.
