Winston is an 11 month old male Blue Roan Cocker Spaniel. He comes into the charity through no fault of his own. It is highly likely there will be plenty of offers for a new forever home for this off-the-scale-gorgeous young chap, so we are looking for people who have read this write up and can be specific in meeting his needs.
Winston is of a slight build but nonetheless, fairly large English Cocker Spaniel and is typical of his breed and age – boundless energy, curiosity and enthusiasm. Whilst he is a very gentle and loving chap, he has had little in the way of training and this will be a must. He is a very healthy robust boy who eats and sleeps well and loves being the center of your world. However, he needs a calm environment in which his training can continue and with owners who are around most of the time.
It would be preferable if Winston can be re-homed with another dog for company and assurance. However, he could be the only dog in the household if the right owners can demonstrate how they would allow him the freedom to socialise and develop. Winston loves plenty of walks and if walked on a Halti is absolutely fine. Otherwise he currently has a tendency to pull due to a lack of lead walking experience and training.
He makes excellent meaningful eye contact and therefore will be easy to train. Winston is good with everybody and everything and loves to play with similar energy/age-and-stage dogs. He is good with cats. Households with sensible children may be considered. Be prepared to invest in plenty of toys of all types – he loves them all and can play with them for hours. Winston is currently quite an anxious dog due to his recent background but will not remain so. He is currently not reliably housetrained but it is anticipated that this will be quickly resolved. He will be neutered, vaccinated, flea treated and wormed before re-homing. He is in foster care near Hastings in East Sussex.
