Womble – 7-9 months old male Lurcher

Womble is a Lurcher who came to us recently from a stray pound environment after his time was up. He is around 7-9 months old and is a typical high energy but not overly bright Saluki cross Collie boy.

Womble is currently in foster care with two other male Saluki Lurcher boys and two female Whippet cross types and gets on well with them all. This boy just wants to play and run, run and play but typically with the Saluki element has a somewhat selective recall which will definitely need more work to improve his recall.  Out on lead Womble walks well in the main, however, he can get skittish and over excited when he sees other dogs and will have a spin and play bow whilst on the lead.  Since arriving in his foster home this boy has been spotlessly clean and fine to be left with the other dogs and sleeps all through the night.

There are children in the foster home and Womble has been great with them; however as he is such a big puppy he would be better homed with dog savy older children probably over 6 years old.

It has become obvious that Womble thrives with the company of other dogs especially other high energy dogs such as Lurchers who play the same game. Therefore it will be imperative for anybody offering Womble a home to have at least one playful dog in the home already and he would flourish even more with a pack.  Womble hasn’t been fully cat tested but he has shown interest in cats and gets very excited, overly boisterous and yappy when he sees them.  With this is mind we would prefer for him to go to a home without feline friends.

He has also proved to be a bit of thief!  If it’s not nailed down he will take it! Once he has his stolen item in his possession he isn’t destructive but is a bit of a collector so Womble seems more than an appropriate name!

Womble’s foster home feel he will need a home who understands the needs of a young, high energy dog who needs to learn some good manners.  He has a great capacity to learn and with love and encouragement will be a most fabulous all round family dog and companion for other dogs of a similar nature.

As with all young dogs Womble will need a home with someone around all of the time to invest into his continued training. He would also more than benefit from obedience classes.

Womble is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, deflead, wormed, microchipped and neutered.

Womble is currently in foster care in Staffordshire.
