Womble – 7 year old male German Shepherd cross Rottweiler
This big handsome boy is Womble, he’s a 7 year old boy and thought to be a German Shepherd and Rottweiler cross. He almost didn’t have a Christmas this year, he was in an overcrowded pound and at risk of being put to sleep. Fortunately, an Oldies Club fosterer came forward to help him and we managed to get him to his new foster home in Preston, Lancashire, just in time for Christmas. As you can see from his photos it didn’t take him long to settle in and he made the most of the Christmas festivities!

Womble is a big cuddly boy and his favourite pastimes are eating, snoozing and going for walks. He’s currently about 10kg overweight so he’s trying to do a little less of the eating and a bit more of the walking. He’d be happy in a fairly active home, although he’s not exactly super fast at the moment – the most he’s managed is a trot and that was when he saw a squirrel! This is probably due to him being overweight, so he’s going to need someone who can continue to work on his diet. He’s generally good on the lead, but can be strong if something takes his interest. He has good recall, but seems to respond better to men than women.

Womble is very good with cats and other dogs, but he would prefer quieter companions for his housemates. He’s a really friendly and cheeky boy and he loves being with people and wouldn’t mind living with older children (aged 7 years+). It would be great if he could find a home with someone who is around most of the day, although he doesn’t object to being left for a few hours at a time.
Womble is neutered, microchipped and flea and worm treated and his vaccinations have been started. He has a fatty lump on his back leg which is due to be removed before he’s rehomed.

*Update for Womble*
Womble has lost 3.5kg and is feeling brand new! He loves to go out for walks and even enjoy a little run when he’s let off the lead. He has been to the groomers recently too and his foster mum says he behaved like a perfect gent. Womble has some tricks. He can “speak” and do a “high five” so his foster mum thinks he is a very intelligent lad. She says he has the brains of a German Shepherd and the loyalty of a Rottie.
