This cute ball of fluff is Zac, a 3-year old Bichon Frise, who is being fostered in Cheltenham. Zac loves his cuddles and would love to be a much pampered lap dog. He is quite the actor and does the cutest pleading beg when he wants attention or a treat.
Zac has only just come into foster so is still settling in and under assessment. He has come in from a quiet home with an elderly owner and has been understandably fearful of his new surroundings. He has shown some fearful reactions initially but this has improved and he has never bitten. Zac is fully house trained and has no problems in the home. He is sociable with adults and is getting more confident with his foster family’s 10 and 14 year old children. He is still very nervous.
Zac travels well in the car – he is happy in a crate – but had to be muzzled for neutering at the vets. He is happy to be touched but is initially uncertain when being moved to somewhere he does not want to go. He is not at all dominant with his food or toys. Zac is too small to climb fences but can squeeze through small gaps so fencing will need to be secure. The only thing Zac has destroyed was a cat toy mouse! He does not have any destructive tendencies in the home. He has been left with his foster doggie siblings for about 4 hours with no problems.
Zac is not very good at doing what he is told at the moment but is learning the house rules. We are working on his basic training. He has not been out on the lead as yet as he has not yet completed his course of vaccinations. He is fine with other dogs – he lives with 2 cross breed bitches and has met a variety of dogs at Wonky Towers. He would not be suitable to be rehomed with cats.
Zac would be best a quiet home with an elderly owner as this is what he is used to but could get used to a family with older dog savvy children if given time to adjust. His new family need to be prepared to continue with Zac’s basic training. Zac is still missing his previous owner and would be a loyal companion in the right home.
Zak is neutered, up to date with his flea and worming treatment, micro-chipped and has started his vaccinations. Prospective adopters will be expected to travel to meet him in his foster home in Cheltenham.
