Alvin is a 9 month old male Terrier Cross. He is a little power pocket rocket. He is a very intelligent and high energy dog – he packs a lot in a small body. He loves other dogs and would benefit living with a calm savvy dog to help him understand his world. He loves people and cuddles – he is bright and learns quickly. He loves playing and using his nose/brain. He has a problem with excitement though and knowing how to control his enthusiasm.
Alvin hates being restrained in any form – this includes being restrained by a lead. So although fine in the house – he is too agitated when he goes out and really finds walking difficult at the moment (basically he wants to see everyone and everything and being held back by the lead makes him start barking and straining against the restraint). We are working with a behaviourist and there is a plan in place the new family must follow.
But he is an old style free range type of dog – and should have a home with a large garden/acreage. A family that is calm, and willing to work with us to help him find his calm. Also a family that has the space and time to help him, walks are not possible for him at the moment – so you would need to be prepared to keep his world small. We will discuss further with any future applicant.
Please don’t overlook him because of his excitement – the reality is that the best things always come in the smallest packages. This is a dog that will be a cracker – but needs some help to get there. He is neutered , has his passport and in good heath. He is adorable and just needs the right fit. He is in foster in Norfolk.
