Ariel – 7 year old female Hound Cross

Ariel is a 7 year old female Hound Cross. She was rescued as a stray after being found roaming during the hunting season. Hounds are often mistreated in Cyprus and it looks as though Ariel was probably bred from at some point in her life, her pups likely sold to hunters.

She’s now waiting in the pound for someone to fall in love with her and give her the amazing home she’s never had before. She is such a gentle soul. We don’t think that she has ever had a proper home before and has likely spent years in a kennel outdoors given very little opportunity to socialise with people, have routine exercise, or explore the great outdoors.

Dogs that have been unlucky enough to find themselves with these types of owners must suffer the most boring and loveless lives until they’re finally given up, abandoned or get lost. Despite Ariel’s past, she’s a forgiving and sweet girl. She does get a little nervous around people that she doesn’t know but she loves human affection and enjoys being in their company.

She’s getting to grips with walking on the lead now and loves being outdoors, snuffling away in the grass and socialising with other dogs. Right now she shares her kennel with a male dog who’s much more bouncy and excitable than she is, but she’s quite happy in his company.

She could most definitely live with another dog and when she’s meeting a new canine pal her tail whizzes round in circles with enthusiasm. Due to her breed mix, we’re looking for a home without cats for Ariel, and due to her lack of exposure to kids she would be better suited to a home with older children, ideally teens.

She doesn’t have a bad bone in her body and would make a lovely addition to a calm household based in a semi-rural location, but she will need some time to find her feet in a new home. Patience is always key to helping a new rescue adapt. She is currently in Cyprus and has a clean bill of health. She is ready to travel once she finds her forever home.
