After a few weeks of care and attention, he soon transformed into a different dog and he’s raring to find his forever home now. Shepherd types are so poorly treated in Cyprus and we see them abandoned and unwanted time and time again.
Atlas deserves so much more and we’re hopeful we can find a home where he is treated with the kindness and love he craves.
Atlas is a very good-natured, obedient young dog. He is friendly with everyone he meets and gentle around children too. He has learnt to walk well on the lead and is generally very, very sweet in every sense.
The volunteers at the pound love him because he’s just so keen to please and eager to learn new things. Atlas is cautious around new dogs, to begin with, and takes his time to read their body language and assess if they want to be friends.
Atlas is respectful of their boundaries, but once he hits it off with a new dog he plays very well and loves to run about in the yard with other dogs of similar energy to him.
Atlas now shares his kennel with another male dog and there have been no issues at all. It’s a breed-specific trait that German Shepherd types are a protective breed, and when Atlas isn’t completely settled he will bark to make it known that he’s there and he’s looking out for the safety of his human.
However, when he’s relaxed he is very easygoing. He is also very well-behaved in public places he’s familiar with and loves making new friends with people in the vet clinic (of all places!). Atlas is looking for an active home with a garden.
Atlas can live with other dogs as long as they’re not very dominant not that Atlas is a dominant dog.
Atlas is a Shepherd, so this wouldn’t be the most conducive match, but is confident enough to be the only dog in a household.
Atlas has not been tested with cats, and he can be rehomed with children aged 6+. Atlas is currently based in Cyprus and has a clean bill of health. He is ready to travel once he has a home to fly to.
