Ava is a 2 year old female Schipperke. She is being fostered in an adult home with other dogs in Gloucestershire. Ava has recently come into our care after being found as a stray on the streets. Not chipped, terrified with flea-bitten skin, and obviously not long had pups.
It’s very hard to even piece together this little dog’s history but it’s certainly not been full of love at all. She has been in foster with a lovely lady and her two dogs, initially so worried and scared she is slowly starting to trust. She was fine with the dogs very quickly and friendly towards them, she has now decided Alison she thinks is to be trusted and follows her everywhere.
She is coming for a fuss and is just loving being loved. The fear is still there, she still thinks something bad may happen but it’s getting less and less in such a short while. She has been out for a gentle walk, not properly house trained yet, has happily been left for a few hours, and seems to be fine traveling in the car. She is a very nosy and inquisitive little girl who she should be when she forgets to be scared.
Ava has attended our Vets and started her vaccinations, chipped, been health checked and spayed. Her front leg looks slightly wonky which has been checked out, it is felt she was born like it and is in no pain and it certainly does not hinder her walking or running around.
Ava will need a very experienced rescue home with another dog – if we could get someone who understands this breed that would be amazing – she would not suit family homes it has to be a quiet adult home.
You will need patience and the knowledge needed to help a dog like Ava proceed forward in her life and never look back – everything has to be positive and done with love.
