Avril is a 2 year old female Beagle Cross. She is newest member of the Teluma family, who arrived with us having been abandoned. The amazing rescuer we work with was told about her, and managed to step in before she was taken to the pound. She has been in foster ever since and has been adapting very well. She did have a few accidents at home when she first got there, but her housetraining has been coming along well and she is very good at home. She can be left for short periods and copes well, and she sleeps by herself without anxiety.
Of course once she’s in her new home she will need patience and time to readjust to a new environment and to settle after the journey, but the signs are all there that she will do very well in her future home. She is a very sweet girl, with the kind of temperament we feel will make her a wonderful companion. She is playful and friendly with people, and approaches wagging her tail and dancing around to get your attention. She is a lively, happy girl, who likes to play and enjoys her toys.
She’s good with other dogs and is either friendly and likes a game, or if she doesn’t like the dog in question, she will take herself away from them. She doesn’t seem overly interested in cats, though if they run away from her she will playfully try to follow them. She travels well in the car and when she spent time around a child she was very gentle and patient. She is a young and will make the best companion for someone who appreciates she is still learning and getting used to life with a family. She may need work on her housetraining, lead walking and time in busier, noisier areas. She’s very brave and approaches this kind of environment well, but she can still be a little nervous in more built up settings.
For her, we are looking for adopters who have experience with dogs, and ideally live in a suburban or rural setting. Being a Beagle mix, she is an active girl who loves using her nose and exploring the outdoors, so a fenced garden would make her very happy. Another resident dog who is confident and of a similar activity level would be lovely for her, but we do feel she can be an only dog if necessary. As we can’t test her around small furries, we are looking for a home without little animals.
Homes with cats may be considered, if the cats are confident and used to dogs. She can live with older children, of 12 years or older. She is currently in Spain in foster care in Spain, but ready to travel to her forever home as soon as the right person or family comes forward. She will travel vaccinated, chipped, spayed and tested for Mediterranean diseases. She can be adopted in England and Wales, but not Scotland. If you are interested in this sweet girl, we are happy to hear from you. Please get in touch and let us know a little about you, where you live, what experience and what you can offer to this girl.
