Baz – 5-6 year old male Cross-Breed

Safe Rescue February 26, 2021

Baz is a five to six year old male Cross-Breed. He was brought to the UK a few months ago by another rescue but slipped out the door of his foster home and was on the run for two months before being caught be a professional trapping team.

Since being in our care he has never looked to escape but ex street dogs are opportunistic and it is VITAL to keep any newly adopted dog away from doors that lead outside to non secure areas AND supervise them whilst in the garden for the first few weeks.

Despite the previous rescue reputing Baz to be untouchable and difficult to handle we have not found him to be that way in his current foster home. He is a bit sensitive about having his lead put on, almost certainly related to the scar that runs right round his neck. He then will reluctantly go for a walk but currently “has a face on” the whole time and walks behind in what could be described as a sulk ?!

I think he’s just used to going where he wants to go and doing what he wants to do and it’s going to be a while before he submits to not being master of his own destiny when out. It will come with patience and practise, he’s got to be exercised and giving into him isn’t an option.

At home Baz is a friendly affectionate boy once he’s warmed up to people. He’s much more comfortable to approach when you’re seated rather than standing but again time will improve his confidence and he’s done brilliantly in a very short time. He needs another dog as a companion and is very playful so a dog that will reciprocate play is a massive tool in making him happy and helping him settle in.

We would not consider a home without another dog so please do not apply if you don’t have one. Baz is not tested with cats and is not able to do cats are unfortunately not an option.

Baz currently lives with children and is fine with them but they need to be of an age to understand his initial cautiousness and let him get used to them in his own time and therefore any children need to be over ten years old. Baz travels well in a car and is fine to be left at home for reasonable periods of time with a dog friend.

This stunning boy has huge potential and parting with him won’t be easy, but he deserves the very best of homes. He’s resilient, stubborn, fun and affectionate in equal measures and the right family will be so lucky to adopt him. Baz is fostered Norwich, Norfolk.

All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered (unless the dog is too young to be neutered). If you are interested please message or call between 9am to 5pm Mon – Fri 9am to 4pm Sat.
