Meet Bengie, he is a very sweet, calm young 10 month old male Basenji Crossman looking for a new home. He is a short coated tan little boy with a short curly tail. He has the look of a Sharpei type with some Podenco/Basengi but we aren’t sure what he has has in him as he is so unusual. Bengie is now fully grown and is medium sized he is a super friendly, healthy youngster. Bengie is now in foster in the UK he is very friendly and affectionate to people and other dogs, he is a cuddly boy and has nice manners, he does not snatch food or jump up, he is also a sensitive calm boy who doesn’t get excited – he is an old fashioned little man – at just 10 months old!
There were five puppies in the litter, 4 have already found homes, they are in the UK, have settled in really well and are having a wonderful time with their new families. Bengie was introduced to the shelter cats and took no interest in them at all, even though one of them spat and hissed at him. The whole litter were dumped at the Spanish shelter gates one night without their mother. I met Bengie and his brother Gambit this week at the Paws shelter because I was so impressed with the 2 siblings we have homed in the UK I wanted to personally meet the last two brothers left in Spain. I went into their run to get up close and get some cuddles and licks and I got photos of them together and then on their own. Just so lovely and healthy and well built now bodily.
Obviously bigger now but, like their siblings, a pair of nice steady calm boys, almost mature in their manner. Both boys are almost now fully grown and they must be about 9 months old. They look like they have Sharpei facial characteristics but its hard to tell, maybe not as they have little curly tails and the sister Saydee looks like a Basengi. Bengies brother has been adopted and his new family adore him, he settled in straight away. Bengie is not a Bullbreed. If you are looking for a young friendly calm dog that will grow to medium height and be be very loving and affectionate please give this boy a look as he is much prettier in person, as I think the photos don’t do him justice.
Foster Report Bengie: The best word to describe this boy is delightful. No trouble, few accidents to start, no food/treat/toy guarding. Happy to sit and watch my dogs playing then join in, enjoys running in the garden. Bengie is a powerful boy and he only pulls when he first goes out then he walks nicely. Now enjoying new treats and cuddles. He is very affectionate, very gentle and will gently put his paws on your knee to lift himself up get an ear scratch and a fuss. My dogs barge past him and he’s left standing in their wake wondering what’s going on! No interest in cats or birds and enjoying walking but likes to walk with another dog not quite confident enough to walk on his own yet. Only arrived on 1st July but very settled into routines straight away and happy to lie in his crate – very pleased with his character and disposition.
Current location is in a foster home in Solihull, West Midlands. Vaccinated, wormed, flea treated, neutered, microchipped and has a Pet Passport.
Adoption Fee : £ 185- to be paid direct to the Spanish rescue to cover travel costs.
