Bertie is a medium-sized Spaniel-cross of around 8 years old fostered in Kings Lynn. Bertie needs a very special owner and home because he is disabled. Though his disability doesn’t seem to trouble him at all, he does need someone who can lift him when necessary, as well as somewhere to walk that is accessible on his wheels. Bertie has been a Safe Rescue dog for a few years, but managed to escape and has been missing for more than two years. Recently, we had a call from a vet nearly 200 miles from where we went missing telling us that he had been brought in, injured, as a stray.
Since then, he has been in a foster home, building up his strength and learning to use a dog-wheelchair that supports his back-end and allows him to enjoy walks and adventures outdoors. In the house, he moves around freely, dragging his back feet. He is even able to climb the stairs. He has complete control of his bladder but does not always have full control of his bowels especially when he is scared or excited. He is currently happily living with other dogs and cats in busy house. Since finding a warm place and a soft bed, he is happiest when he is snuggled up on the sofa next to his person, pawing for more attention if you stop stroking him. If it is raining, or a bit chilly, he needs to be carried into the garden as he refuses to go out!
Bertie is a funny and strong-minded little chap who is shy at first but very affectionate once he knows that you are his person. They are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered (unless they are too young). If you are interested please message or call between 9am and 6pm.
