Bertie – 1-2 year old male Cross-Breed

Bertie is a 1-2 year old male Cross-Breed. He is currently in a foster home in Overseal, Derbyshire and he is looking for a new forever home. He is a small sized dog with short legs, (a little bigger than a Pug) and weighs 11.5kg, and so he is not suitable for an elderly person who is not very active, and not able to handle a dog of this size.

He looks small on the photos, but he is actually a little bigger than he looks. He arrived from Romania when he was just a puppy aged 6 months old, and has spent the last 4 1/2 years with a lady who lived alone, who sadly can no longer take care of him due to health reasons.

He sometimes is a little wary when he meets people for the first time, which is a good thing, but after a few minutes he is fine. He gets on ok with the resident dogs in his foster home, and seems to prefer female dogs, so with a calm dog of a similar size, he would be fine, although we do feel that he would prefer life as an only dog, which is what he has been used to.

Bertie loves his walks, but can be a little reactive towards other dogs when on the lead, but with ongoing training since he has been in his foster home, he is improving well, so this can easily be managed with the right owner. He is a little nervous of heavy traffic on his walks, but this is also improving.

We are looking for a quiet adult only home for Bertie, with someone who can take him for regular walks. Fully fenced, completely secure garden. He is a calm dog, friendly and loving dog. He is no with cats and he’s okay with adult only. He is homecheck and adoption donation apply.
