Bill and Ben are gorgeous Chocolate Labrador brothers, aged 12, who are in an Oldies Club foster home in Kings Sutton, Oxfordshire, waiting for someone to offer them a new home together. Bill and Ben would need careful introductions to live with another dog, preferably a spayed female. They couldn’t live with a non-spayed female as they are not neutered, on the vet’s recommendation. Bill and Ben bark at cats. They have not been child tested in foster but we think they could live with kind older children who understand the needs of older, less active dogs.
They love going out for walks or for rides in the car. Ben is always very excited for an adventure and will ensure his brother is woken to join in too! Like most labs they are fond of meal times, and while their food has been reduced and improved in foster care, further weight loss would be beneficial. They love affection and attention and like to meet and be with people. Ben doesn’t like the vacuum. Bill can’t hear it. A bungalow with a large garden would be ideal as Bill can’t climb stairs and Ben shouldn’t. They are both happy to stay downstairs at their foster home and they sleep together in the kitchen or living room. Ben likes to sleep on the couch, and Bill does too but he needs to be lifted up.
They are not neutered, on the vet’s advice. They have been vaccinated, microchipped and flea/worm treated. They generally have a good health; the vet says they have strong hearts and no obvious internal problems. They have arthritis (Ben has limped since birth) and are taking Loxicom and Paracetamol plus joint supplements which have helped them a lot. They have had their nails clipped, and their ears and teeth cleaned. Bill’s ears were in quite a state so he has some medicine to open them up. They have each had a course of antibiotics – Ben for his anal glands and Bill for his ears.
