Bolo – 1 year old male Cane Corso

Bolo is a year old male Cane Corso boy that did not have the best start in life. Bolo is a nervous boy and will hit the floor in fear if something scares home, he does not like loud noises or raised voices, he will not be homed with children because of this although he is good around children. He was not keen on mops and brooms when he came in and would hit the floor if you were near him with them, now we have them around him without issue if he knows you. He loves to play with toys, especially a boomer ball which is strange as when he is knocking it about it is very noisy. He has guarded his kennel with strangers; once he knows you he will come to his kennel door with his blanket in his mouth to greet you. He is good with other dogs has mixed with many and has been out and about to different places, he does not like getting in a car but travels well once in.

[rehomed]

Bolo needs to know what is expected of him and treating him like a baby does not help him at all. Please be prepared to visit Bolo a number of times and to know he will need work, which will take time, we feel he would come along quicker in a home than in kennels. When Bolo knows you he loves you and will want belly rubs, he loves being with people. Food wise Bolo does well on a raw food diet, some kibbles can upset his stomach.

If you have experience with working with a nervous dog in the past that would be a benefit.

*Update March 2017*

He has been far better in the home that we could have expected considering his time in kennels. His lead work has improved greatly though he can go to ground on occasion and needs a cuddle to reassure him before he moves on, the instances of this greatly reduced. He is starting to respond to blanket, hurry up (To do his business) he sits, does down as the mood takes him, loves to play with kongs and his boomer ball. Takes treats very gently, does not disturb us when eating our meals. He is not crate trained yet, he is wary of it. He is very much a dog that gains confidence daily as he encounters new things. He responds best to a low firm voice.

Bolo has come in leap and bounds such a playful boy and adores a cuddle, he wants no trouble with other dogs does still look to the human for reassurance if he is unsure, loves going for a walk.
