Brownie is a 2 year old male German Short-Haired Pointer Cross. Brownie is a wonderful mixture of Pointer and Podenco. He is now in UK foster in Bedford and getting on with dogs and people extremely well. Brownie is athletic, quick, agile, neat, compact, intelligent, energetic, eager, alert, friendly, loving and affectionate.
He’s confident enough to investigate things on his own, so he will need consistent positive training which is sympathetic rather than confrontational, because for all his energy he’s got a very gentle soul. He loves humans and will bond very strongly with his adopter. He is very playful with other dogs and a very capable jumper. The foster home has dog savvy cats, Brownie is learning to leave alone, but he would love to play or chase them given the chance.
Brownie is a very special dog, he was handed in to an awful pound in Spain where the intention was to put him to sleep since he was extremely thin and ill-looking. Without any veterinary care but just through sheer determination he got himself fit and well.
He had been waiting in the pound for a long time and was nearing the top of the list to be put to sleep when we were asked to help, so we took him out and brought over to the UK into foster care. He was initially timid but has quickly increased in confidence and has blossomed into a great young dog, after all he’s been through it’s just amazing he’s so well-balanced and happy. He will make someone a great companion.
He is now safe in our shelter and is doing really well. We were told he is very scared but he isn’t, he’s a little timid with all the changes but he’s already wagging his tail and adores people, ignores dogs who aren’t very friendly towards him.
After all he’s been through it’s just amazing he’s so well-balanced and happy. I really hope he finds a wonderful home soon.
