Buddy is a wonderful three legged Lurcher who was adopted from us last year, having been in foster where he proved himself to be a dream dog. His adoptive family contacted us a month ago about him coming back as they said he shows aggression to strangers. They then said they wanted to keep him and would get help from a dog trainer.
Ten days ago they had a trainer out and then contacted us 24 hours later to say it hadn’t worked. They sent videos of the ‘aggression’ which is basically that he barks at people coming into the house and we therefore made the decision that it was in Buddys best interests to come back and us to find him an alternative forever home.
He came into a boarding kennels earlier this week and he’s a very anxious boy now (which he wasn’t when he was adopted) but he’s been absolutely lovely with everyone he meets and all he does is bark if he’s nervous, (happily sat letting me stroke him while he barked). He’s lived with young children and been fine with them, he gets along with most dogs (but he is a no to cats).
He just needs a sensible home to rebuild his confidence and teach him that he has no need to panic and bark in new situations. He travels well, has always been fine being left and walks well on his lead. His missing leg doesn’t bother him at all. He’s neutered, vaccinated and chipped. In a sensible loving home where he will get the guidance he needs he will flourish.
