Buster is a 6 year old male Patterdale Terrier who is looking for an understanding owner who can help him through his issues. He was picked up as a stray and we rescued him from the pound, so unfortunately we don’t have any previous history on him. He is a very anxious, nervous boy who needs a patient owner who is willing to give him lots of time and patience to earn his trust.
Buster is a very energetic boy who will need plenty of exercise and stimulating play to help keep his mind active, and he adores squeaky toys although they don’t last very long! His favourite are the squeaky tennis balls, he will play fetch for hours but won’t let you have the balls as he shoves as many as he can into his mouth and hides the others under his chest! We believe Buster has been mistreated as he is wary of strangers and terrified of loud noises, he isn’t keen on going for walks so would be better suited to someone with a large garden or bit of land where he can safely explore and play.
Buster can sometimes exhibit compulsive behaviour as a stress response i.e. circling if he is frightened but we have been working with him at the centre and have found he can be distracted by a treat or squeaky ball. We are hoping to find someone who is experienced with his breed. He is good with other dogs, but can be protective with toys and food around them.
Buster is not good with cats or children, and must go to an adult only home. Once he knows and trusts you he is a very loving and loyal boy who just needs someone to give him a chance.
